Things are expensive here. Imagine taking the mrt in Singapore and the ticket costs $6! Technically it’s valid for 1 hour but within the 1 hour it’s not really possible to go to the market for grocery shopping and return home. Good for us that we have the student concession, unlimited rides for 1 month at 330kr (~$90). A hotdog and 500ml drink in school costs 35kr (~$9). Now i believe 1 of my seniors only ate in school once.
There’s great price variation in shops. A shop can sell a bottle of sesame oil for 37kr while another shop across the street sells the same bottle at 34kr. 1.5 litre coke sells for 17kr at some places and 10kr elsewhere if you buy pack of 4 at 40kr.
It’s a sad scenario for my housing cos __________… and it’s on the 1st floor! I get so jealous of my friends’ fabulous views of the mountains hills, vegetation, sky and lake and all i have is the bloody carpark. it’s annoying when people walk pass or vehicle engines starting up in the morning.
Almost could not get my internet connection up and running. The instructions given were based on older version of the OS so i couldnt follow step by step. The funny thing was my friend managed to get the XP side connected (thanks B!) while the mac side was unsovled. there was this sinking feeling of having to work in XP whenever i want to be online (which is like all the time). luckily a frend managed to set the mac up (thanks F!). now i’m quite reluctant to remove the lan cable from the com in case it cant get connected again.
I’ve found comfort food replacements; a reasonably priced chocolate jam that tastes quite like nutella, a grape syrup thats simliar to ribena, cookies to replace oreo and even a shop that sells nissin instant noodles.
On a happier note, i’ve managed to set up my room such that i can sit and type at com and also lie down on bed to watch videos. Set up of room went thru a number of arrangements before coming to this configuration. Previously i sat on the bed to type but found that made it a little too easy to slack and sleep. There’s a lake nearby, the view is great (stay tuned for pics) and the path will be nice for jogging.

if it’s a choice, it would’nt be so hard.*
*not describing the situation now. it’s more complicated.
